A Cozy Christmas Wedding Weekend in Minnesota | Andie & Matt

St. Joseph the Worker Church & Five Event Center – Minneapolis Wedding Photography

Some wedding days are beautiful.
Some wedding days are meaningful.

And then there are wedding weekends like Andie and Matt’s—the kind that feel like a warm mug of coffee on a snowy morning, wrapped in Christmas lights, laughter, and genuine love.

From an intimate winter ceremony at St. Joseph the Worker in Maple Grove to a joyful brunch reception the next morning at Five Event Center in Minneapolis, every part of Andie and Matt’s celebration felt intentional, cozy, and deeply personal. And honestly? It was magic.

A Wedding That Felt Like Christmas—Because It Was

Andie and Matt are the kind of people who make you feel welcome the second you walk into the room. Kind. Sweet. Inviting. The kind of couple you instantly want to root for.

They love all things Christmas and the holiday season, and instead of forcing that feeling into a single traditional wedding day, they did something I absolutely loved:
they stretched the celebration across two days.

An evening ceremony.
A brunch reception the next morning.

Less rushed. More intentional. More time to actually be with the people they love.

Getting Ready at Home, Surrounded by Love (and Fur Babies)

The weekend began at Andie and Matt’s home, where they got ready surrounded by warmth, quiet excitement, and their fur babies keeping close watch as final touches came together.

There’s something special about getting ready at home—especially in the winter. The space already holds meaning, and on this day, it felt extra cozy and festive, full of that unmistakable Christmas-season glow.

Before heading out, Andie and Matt shared an intimate first look at home, just the two of them. Quiet. Emotional. Grounding. One of those moments that reminds you why photography matters in the first place.

A Heartfelt Winter Ceremony at St. Joseph the Worker Church

St. Joseph the Worker – Maple Grove, Minnesota

As the sun dipped below the horizon, guests arrived at St. Joseph the Worker Church—the church Andie grew up attending. The ceremony felt incredibly meaningful, not just because of the season, but because of the history and connection tied to the space.

The atmosphere was cozy and heartfelt. The kind of ceremony where you can feel how loved the couple is by everyone in the room.

Winter weddings have a way of slowing things down—in the best way. The focus shifts to connection, emotion, and presence. And this ceremony embodied all of that.

Andie’s Look: Effortless, Timeless, and Stunning

Andie absolutely dazzled. Her dress was elegant and timeless, perfectly fitting the winter-meets-Christmas vibe of the weekend.

Her hair was done by the incredibly talented Genevieve Phillips at Maraki Hair Lounge in Minneapolis—who, once again, slayed. Soft, beautiful, and effortlessly polished, it was the perfect look for both the ceremony and the brunch celebration the next day.

A Brunch Reception Done Right at Five Event Center

Five Event Center – Minneapolis, Minnesota

The next morning, Andie and Matt welcomed their friends and family to Five Event Center in Minneapolis for a brunch reception—and honestly, this might be one of my favorite ways to celebrate a wedding.

Instead of a late-night party, the morning was filled with:

  • Coffee and conversation
  • Laughter and games
  • Storytelling and slow moments
  • The biggest (and most delicious) cinnamon rolls you’ve ever seen

Guests mingled with coffee from Isles Buns & Coffee, enjoyed legendary cinnamon rolls, and grabbed donuts from Cardigan Donuts—a Minneapolis staple for a reason.

The whole reception felt like Christmas morning. Relaxed. Joyful. Full of warmth. Exactly what Andie and Matt had envisioned.

Why a Brunch Wedding Reception Might Be Perfect for You

Thinking about doing something a little different for your wedding? A brunch reception might be worth considering—especially here in Minnesota.

Benefits of a Brunch Reception

  • More relaxed timeline – No late-night rush or packed dance schedule
  • Intentional conversations – Guests actually get time to connect
  • Daylight energy – Natural light + happy, well-rested people
  • Perfect for winter weddings – Cozy vibes without icy late-night travel
  • Food everyone loves – Coffee, pastries, brunch classics = crowd-pleasers

Andie and Matt’s brunch celebration was proof that your wedding doesn’t have to follow a script to be unforgettable.

A Minneapolis Winter Wedding Filled with Love

What stood out most across both days wasn’t just the beautiful details—it was how deeply loved Andie and Matt are. By their friends. By their families. By everyone who showed up to celebrate them.

Their wedding weekend was warm, inviting, and deeply meaningful—exactly the kind of celebration I love photographing.
